Bury Me In Black

Gerard Way is pissed off. Really pissed off - "I wanna see what your insides look like/I bet you're not fucking pretty on the inside". This song was written when Gerard was still a heavy alcoholic, and the song is about a drinking partner he has who has stopped drinking ("You've worn out all your dancing shoes this time"). Gerard is, once again, drunk ("These eyes have had too much to drink again tonight") and is now off to tell his ex-drinking partner just how angry he is at being abandoned. First he tries to call him ("I've been calling you all week for my shotgun/Pick up the phone") but then decided he'll go visit him. He gets into a drunken fight with him ("And well I can explain/What happened to my face late last night".)

Cemetery Drive

There are many debated theories to the meaning of Cemetery Drive. The most popular one being that the song is about adultery, the tale of a woman who has been cheating on her husband ("So I won't stop dying, won't stop lying"), and can no longer stand the pain of keeping it a secret. She takes her own life ("They found you on the bathroom floor/[...]Singing songs that make you slit your wrist/It isn't that much fun, staring down a loaded gun").

A second, more personal theory is that the song was written about a friend of Gerard and Mikey's, who committed suicide just days before MCR left for their first tour. She allegedly shot herself in her bathroom, and Gerard wrote this song about her while he was grieving.

Cubicles

This song is about obsession and rejection. He used cubicles as a metaphor to any situation where every day you see the same girl and fall in love with her. "It's the tearing sound of love-notes Casting out the gray stained windows " means that he writes love notes to her, but never has the nerve to give them to her, so he throws them out a window. basically the song is about loving someone who you see every day but doesn't even notice you exist.

Gerard has also said this is his least favorite MCR song.

Demolition Lovers

On the surface this song is about loving someone to death, but the background to this track is a story that Gerard has concieved about two characters, he and his partner. They are both killed but he ends up in Purgatory and the only way that he can get to her is if he kills 1000 evil men. This is the story of how they died. Part of Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge follows up this song, and also part of the Demolition Lovers epic is the song Drowning Lessons as it touches upon "1000 bodies piled up". But of course, there are imagery ties to Natural Born Killers.

Also it's about how Gerard would die for the one he loves. In the inlay of the album it says "To K: I'm sorry I write all these songs about killing you, i hope the last track makes up for it." The last track is Demolition Lovers.

Give 'Em Hell, Kid

Gerard has personally said this song is about teenage pregnancy, or "getting knocked the fuck up".

Hang 'Em High

A girl doesnt belive her boyfriend loves her. so she keeps asking him if he would die for her and if would lie to her.

They are trying to kill the bad guys together and is telling her if he dies to carry on, and keep going.

Headfirst For Halos

It's about when you're depressed enough that you are right on that brink of suicide and how you should think about the good things in your life and not always the bad, the pills hes talking about are anti-depressants. "Think Happy thoughts"? They said they wrote this for all the people out there who are just so down on theirselves, that they want to end their lives and that they wanted to make people happy, hence the upbeat tempo and the think happy thoughts.

As Gerard has put it himself; "This song is about suicide...don't do it." 

Helena

This song is a tribute to Gerard and Mikey's late grandmother. Her name was really Elena but they always thought of her as a Helena.

Honey, This Mirror Isn't Big Enough For The Two Of Us

Okay, now you see the title is Honey, this mirror isn't big enough for the two of us and as you all must not know mirrors are quite often referred to by cocaine use such as eating breakfast on a mirror. So anyway this song is about drugs and a controlling girlfriend that didnt want want Gerard to do drugs. He's basically telling her to fuck off and then she's going after his brother and friends.

He's been quoted at a concert before he sang this - "This song is about a big fat whore".

I Never Told You What I Do For A Living

I think this is about a man who goes around and murders select victims. With the lines :

"Another night and I'll see you
One other night and I'll be you
Some other way to continue to hide my face"

To me it seemed to about his man's struggle to continue hiding and killing people and then living their lives for a short while. And in the man's opinion he's doing them a favor in a way and feels that:

"It's better off this way...
And we'll love again and we'll laugh again
We'll try again and we'll dance again
and it's better off this way
So much better off this way"

I'm guessing the victims he's choosing lead lives without anyone close to them so he's taking their lives and doing what he can in the short amount of time to make 'their' lives better.

And in the end of the song when he is shot and he says "WE'RE all dead now" he's referring to the fact that all of the people he has killed are all really, truely dying at that moment. When he himself is killed all the people whose lives he has taken over are ending.

Second version

It ties in with the story about the man and satan and all that jazz. It's about the guy killing all of the people that he had to but I'm still trying to figure out how it's supposed to end.

"and we're all dead now" this line makes me think that maybe after he killed all 1000 people he found his girlfriend but she ended up being in hell with him? I'm not sure if someone was supposed to have killed her or the devil just played a trick on the guy and ended up having both of them dead.

I'm Not Okay (I Promise)

The songs about how Gerard felt when he was in high school. He only had one real friend and he was really in love with this girl, and she took very skanky pictures with her boyfriend and he got really upset.

It's Not A Fashion Statement, It's A Deathwish

This song is saying that he has a friend and they are really close and his friend betrays him and he dies (emotionally or physically). Basically he is coming back to life (or out of a depression state) and he's gonna get revenge and bring his friend down the way his friend did to him. but he seems to love his friend because he wants to be with him but at the same time he has to be punished.

Our Lady Of Sorrows

This song is about friendship.

"Stand up fucking tall, dont let them see your back
And take my fucking hand and never be afraid again"

That's obviously about all the ass holes that are out to get you, but if you have your friends and stuff, you'll be alright and get through whatever is vexing you.

There is a live version of this song, and Gerard says something like:

"You probably came with your best friend, or one of your best friends... I want you to turn to that mother fucker, grab him by the throat and say 'Your my best fucking friend, and I would die for you!'"

Skylines And Turnstiles

This song is about September 11th. Gerard saw it happen, he was meeting in New York with Cartoon Network pitching an idea for one of the cartoons he helped co-create, "The Breakfast Monkey". Witnessing the event changed his life. After the event he and Matt wrote the song.

Thank You For The Venom

This song is talking about Missionaries. Or just people who come to your door and try to give you information about God, when all you want them to do is leave you alone. "Give me a reason to believe" and "Preach all you want but who's gonna save me?", are lines that come to mind when you want people to get off your back about Christianity.

The Ghost Of You

This song is about losing someone, particularly someone close, i.e. a girlfriend or family member.

The Jetset Life Is Gonna Kill You

 believe this song is most likely about addiction and suicide. What, with constant talks of "holding on", "the last night" and "when the cops come". Plus and this "Jetset lifestyle" is a drug reference I believe, not being able to keep up with everything around you. Hotel Bella Muerte means the "Hotel of beautiful death". Hotel could be referring a place that the mind goes temporarily

This Is The Best Day Ever

This song is about Gerard Way's trips to hospital whilst writing the album. It refers to what it's like at night, and how it plays tricks on your mind. It's also about his longing to get out and the day he got out of the hospital would be the best day ever

To The End

This song was based on a short story by William Faulkner, "A Rose For Emily". Emily falls in love with a man named Homer.. however he's always looking at men, so it is assumed that he's homosexual. Anyway she ends up killing him (he won't marry her when she proposes) with cyanide, and keeps his dead body in her room, where she sleeps with it. So unless it's a coincidence I think that is what the song is about.

Vampires Will Never Hurt You

This song can also be interpreted a different way... lets put the vampires as a synonym for the society.

"If they get me and the sun goes down into the ground
And if they get me take this spike to my heart"

- he never wants to be just as ignorant and heartless like the present society.

"We're hanging out with corpses, we're driving in this hearse"

- most people are dead and have no feelings, its just all about money

"Someone call the doctor, someone get me to a church
Where they can pump this venom gaping hole"

- he searches for a place where he cannot be influenced by this dead society, which he is everyday

"We'll shoot back holy water like cheap whiskey they're always there"

- he and the people with him will fight against this loss of feelings, but they will always be there in our life

He will never let the girl he loves (or someone else) be as dead as the society...

You Know What They Do To Guys Like Us In Prison

This song is about Gerard's experience with homosexuality, where, in a game of Truth or Dare, he kissed Bert McCracken.

It's also about prison rape.

'SOPHIE LOUISE JAMESON SOON TO BE IERO, HE WAS BEHIND ME! YOU COW!'

' Opps did i forget to tell you he was there oh well now you know.' she said in a sweeinnocent you cant kill me voice

' yeah and so does Gerard.Oh by the way you heard all of that didn't you.' i asked Gerard

' from about Gerard wants to know if you and Tom have finished.' he replied.

' well your probly are gonna take the mickie out of me now.'

'no. i was actually gonna ask you if wanted to come to the mall as i need a second opinion on an outfit for my aunts wedding.'

' oh Gerard just so you know if you wear the same outfit to mine and Franks wedding I will hunt you down and kill you.'  Sophie said

'k. so maybe i need an opinion on two outfits.' he said to me laughing.

'come on lets get going before the plastics get in.'

we then left and gerard drove us both to the mall and we went into this really expensive suit and dress shop.

' whoa! look at the price of some of this stuff. This ones like $1000.' i said gasping as i picked up a suit that looked no more than $100

' yeah but all the budget stuffs at the back'

'Then lets go there.' i said as i put down the suit i was holding

after 3 hours of looking we found two suits that looked good so Gerard wen't to try them on

'Emma! Can you come here?' i heard him shout

'what' i said as i came up to him laughing when i saw him

'Can you do my tie?' he said blushing

'what are you going to do on the day? come round to my house and ask me to do your tie for you?! Just you appartments on the other side of town!'

' hey why don't you come to the wedding with me. I'm allowed to bring a plus one and it will be fun.' Gerard said with an expectant look of please say yes, PLEASE SAY YES. in his eyes.

'ok. but you have to pay for half of my dress cause i'm a little low on funds at the moment.'

'k. deal.'

and within about five minutes i found a really cool dress. its black and net and had ribbion everywhere.

i went home and went to sleep as my hangover had just kicked in.

i'll make a better chapther next time but my sisters thrown me off now

Chapther 1 The start

I woke uo andgot changed out of last nights party outfit  (my fave hoodie black skinny jeans and pink and black vans) into amy BFMV t-shirt baggy jeans and black converse. i ran into the kithen as my stomach was screaming "CARBS I MUST HAVE CARBS" and of course i had to agree( the booze last night must not have agreed with me)

When i got into the kitchen i saw my sister and her boyfriend Frank sitting at the table. I noticed something shiny on her finger. It's a a a RING!!!!

'Sophie what thats on your finger'I blurted out

'A ring duh. You wearing your contacts?' She replied

' Yeah I am. I know what a ring looks like but where did you get it?'

'oh erm...Frank can I?'

He just nooded and Sophie came over to me and took my hands and screamed at the top of her lungs

'I'M GETTING MARRIED!!!!'

we started jumping up and down screaming until Frank said

'Where's the toaster? Mikey's coming round'

'Whats the toaster got to do with Mikey?' I asked

'oh and don't forget to hide the forks aswell Frank.' Sophie added

' What has forks and toasters got to do Mikey??' I asked getting frustrated

' Well lets just say if theres a plugged in toaster and a fork Mikey would introduce them to each other.' Frank said

' Thats wht we haveto use plastic forks when we go to his flat.' sophie addeed

'oh ok that makes sense.'

'oh and i forgot to ask, Gerard wants to know if you and Tom have finished for good this time?' Frank asked.

'Erm..Yeah i think so.' i replied

Frank left with a huge grin on his face

'whats he laughing at?' i asked

'Nothing.' Sophie said in an oviously fake voice

'anyway, I'm supried you haven't told your future husband that fancy gerard yet.'

Sophie just winked. I was so confused then someone jumped on me and screamed 'GUESS WHO!!!!!!!'
